Ever since we decided to visit Valencia, I was excited to have some cafecito time with my husband. Valencia is one of the top cities in the world for expats, Europe’s green capital, and just checked a lot of boxes for us. We went during Fallas, too, which was fun and wild and loud. Each morning we walked down to a coffee shop to start our day, and here were my favorite places

A perfect example of one of the things that makes Spain toddler-parent heaven: there is a playground directly next to this place, with outdoor seating for parents to enjoy. This was perhaps one of the most special mornings – slowly sipping a cafe con leche (Nick got an Americano) while our little guy played. It was a little chilly that day, but sunny, and it was the ideal morning while exploring the city. It’s also perfect situated between Extramurs and Ciutat Vella which made for a day.

Jaume Roig is such a gem and I will talk more about it when I do a post on neighborhoods in Valencia. It’s quiet, residential, but with plenty of good food and…you guessed it, coffee. Not only was my mocha delicious, they also had the yummiest breads and sandwiches (a high bar in Spain). Definitely worth sitting in but if you take it to-go, just make sure you have it while walking through Jardins del Real/Vivers to embody the spirit of cafecito
Mayan Coffees – MAYAN COFFEES, Valencia – El Carme – Restaurant Reviews, Photos & Phone Number – Tripadvisor
And the best coffee in Valencia goes to: Mayan Coffees in the famous El Carmen neighborhood. Where do I start? First of all, this place can fill up quickly around breakfast/brunch time because the food is just delicious and fresh. But around cafecito time, after your siesta, make sure you make a stop here – you will not regret it. They had organic, direct trade coffee straight from Guatemala. The service is also incredible, and the atmosphere will have you thinking you are in a Mayan jungle – beautiful, earthy, lush.
